Eric Sobota consults with government contractors on a wide range of business issues and regulatory compliance matters, including: cost allowability and allocability matters, indirect rate structuring issues, cost accounting matters, GSA and other commercial procurements and DCAA approved system implementations and management.

Eric has extensive experience in the government contracts, not-for-profit, educational institution, construction and real estate industries.  His government contract consulting experiences include assisting clients who contract with the Federal Government in complying with applicable federal regulations, including the FAR, CAS and other regulations specific to the nature of the clients’ contracts.  He has developed government contract compliance policies and procedures for many large organizations, including publicly traded companies.

He has experience consulting with higher education and research institutions as well as not-for-profit entities regarding federal grants and other sponsored research matters.  He also has experience with the preparation of GSA schedule Proposals as well as in dealing with the compliance requirements brought about by such agreements.  Eric has assisted in the preparation of requests for equitable adjustment (“REAs”) regarding the Service Contract Act and other contract specific issues.  Eric has substantial experience in calculating indirect rates and other expense allocations in accordance with government regulations.

Eric has worked extensively with matters surrounding the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and has helped many organizations transition into CAS coverage by developing compliant processes that suite the organization’s structure.  He has developed and reviewed CAS Disclosure Statements, prepared cost impact proposals and assessed contractors’ compliance with CAS.

He has worked on many bid protest assignments, including analyzing cost realism.  He has been admitted under protective orders before the General Accounting Office for several bid protest matters.

Beginning his career in the audit practice of a regional accounting firm, Eric’s audit experience encompasses government contracting, not-for-profits, construction, and real estate.  Subsequently, he was a key individual at another regional accounting firm in developing their government contracts consulting group ultimately aiding in growth from inception to the current 50 person practice.
